March 16, 2020
To our Tyler family of clients,
I'm sure you have received, as I have, COVID-19 messages from multiple companies. By now, most businesses are taking similar actions — heightened cleaning and hygiene efforts, restricted travel, and work-from-home policies where possible. We are doing these as well; however, our mission is different from the average software company.
Because Tyler Technologies serves the people who serve the public, we have always recognized how important your role is during times of crisis, whether you manage revenue that keeps your community operating, ensure public safety to help the most vulnerable, or answer the millions of questions coming from the residents of the jurisdictions we serve in North America and other parts of the world.
We know how important it is for the systems you use every day to continue to operate reliably and efficiently. I am writing today to personally assure you we are taking steps to continue to support you and the services we provide, while protecting the health and well-being of our employees, our clients, and our company.
Business Continuity
Tyler's nearly 5,500 team members continue to provide a high standard of client service with minimal disruption. Many of our offices already had virtual staff members whose normal workdays involved remote work environments. We have now encouraged all employees who are able to do so to work from home, equipping them with resources necessary to continue uninterrupted. This will reduce the number of team members in our offices to those needed for essential on-site services, such as network operations support staff, and will create "social distancing" as directed by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). There may be a brief period of adjustment, but we expect support and other services to continue as usual.
Business Travel, Including Client Visits
While there is no current ban on business travel, our employees will confirm your preferences and will check to ensure you don't have restrictions on vendor visits and activities. In addition, they will work with you on alternatives to travel, including web and video conferencing, phone calls, remote demos, and other options. Of course, our employees will also:
- Report any travel to locations with CDC travel warnings in place and self-quarantine upon return as recommended by local health officials
- Avoid travel if they have any health risks or symptoms of illness
Employees may choose not to travel out of caution or due to personal risk circumstances. As individual project or site questions arise, we will do our best to work with you to resolve issues and address schedule complexities caused by this crisis.
Tyler Connect 2020
For those who are registered for our user conference, Tyler Connect, we regret to announce that our event, scheduled for April 26-29 in Orlando, Florida, has been canceled. Each year this is a tremendous training and networking experience for our clients; however, guidance issued by the CDC on March 15 recommends the cancelation of large events for the next eight weeks. We will send details regarding refunds and other information to registrants in the next few days. We look forward to seeing you next year in San Antonio.
Ongoing Updates
We recognize this is an evolving situation, and we will communicate changes as needed. As your own office situation changes, please be sure to update your Tyler point of contact. With school districts and municipalities enforcing closures, we will need to work together to adjust implementation schedules and other activities in response.
Tyler is fortunate to have a broad base of knowledge and expertise across our employee base, allowing flexibility in staffing our teams. We have also been blessed with a history of prudent financial management, providing a sound foundation for weathering economic storms. I am confident we will see our way through these unusual circumstances with the spirit of cooperation, integrity, and service that has been a hallmark of our company from the beginning.
Thank you for all you are doing to serve your communities. Please reach out to your Tyler account team if you have any concerns or updates related to your Tyler projects and visit Tyler's Coronavirus Response webpage for the latest information.
We extend our deepest sympathies to all who have been impacted by coronavirus.
