Agency Makes Inspections Easy Using App

Communities everywhere need a streamlined approach to the fire inspection process.
The Rockwall Fire Department in Texas had been using an outdated system for their inspection processes for years, and they wanted something more.
Ariana Kistner, assistant fire chief and fire marshal, said the department was looking to add more robust tools to their fire apparatus, allowing them to do more with less.
“We needed to improve our efficiency, and we liked the idea of using a mobile inspection solution,” Kistner said.
After implementing the mobile inspection solution, Kistner said completing fire inspections became easier and took less time.
“Using an app for our fire inspection process improved our efficiency tremendously and helped us reduce our rework and duplicate processing that we had before,” Kistner said.
Kistner also said easy access to information and straightforward prompts have helped guide them seamlessly through the process.
“Putting our inspection process onto a mobile app has improved the accuracy of the inspections,” Kistner said. “Having the immediate access to the code itself in the field has helped the inspectors save time, so they don’t have to come back to the office and do the research. They can do it right there.”
Kistner said the mobile inspection solution is also helping those being inspected.
“It’s also helped our communication with the customer because now the customer has the exact code section that they need in order to gain compliance” Kistner said. “This technology has really helped our agency to streamline processes across the board.”
