SANDAG’s Journey to Connect Communities With Data

In this video interview, Cindy Burke, the senior director of data science at the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG), and Liang Tian, the principal data scientist at SANDAG, share the motivations behind the metropolitan planning organization’s implementation of Tyler’s Data & Insights solutions.

With the Enterprise Data Platform and Open Data Platform, SANDAG has significantly improved interaction with data and fostered cross-team collaboration. It has also increased transparency and public trust in its data. This transformation has led to the development of impactful datasets and stories associated with sustainable development goals, highway tracker data, and neighborhood crime, among others.

In 2023, SANDAG was awarded a Tyler Excellence Award for its commitment to transparency, data-driven decision-making, and quality of life improvement in the San Diego region through data.
