Tyler created the Tyler Excellence Awards to celebrate these inspirational successes. Let’s once again acknowledge the 2024 recipients for Performance & Innovation, announced at the annual Tyler Connect conference.

Crete Public School District, Nebraska

The school district’s paper-based purchase order system made having an accurate, real-time view of their finances difficult. Manual payroll and timekeeping processes and the multi-stage process to schedule substitute teachers burdened administrative staff. Some forms required multiple touchpoints, creating room for errors in the information. The district needed to connect its systems and reduce manual, paper-based workflows.

They chose School ERP Pro to modernize their finance processes. The district has a full view of its finances, from purchasing and reporting to budgets and payroll. They have instituted approval chains for purchasing and budget control groups to track finances. Integrated timekeeping, payroll, and substitute management has reduced processing time and ensures accurate information flow between departments without manual data entry. Integration between finance and personnel departments has given Crete Public Schools enhanced, accurate information for data-driven decisions.

“The biggest thing for me is that School ERP Pro added more transparency for our stakeholders,” said Chief Financial Officer Meagan Kershner. “It has been an invaluable experience for us.”

Office of Judicial Administration Kansas

The state's decentralized case management system led to all 30 state judicial districts having their own processes, including case-handling procedures. This siloed approach prevented court services officers from viewing individuals and their interactions with the justice system holistically, which had a particular effect on family cases spread across multiple jurisdictions. The lack of a robust case management system also forced court services officers to adopt manual processes for data handling and reporting, which was both time-consuming and prone to errors.

They implemented Tyler's Enterprise Supervision solution to integrate all aspects of interactions with the justice system statewide. As a result, the state reduced the need for duplicated case efforts involving multiple parties or case types, significantly enhancing operational efficiency. The transition also paved the way for data-driven decision-making, fostering a culture of transparency and accountability.

"Improved data reporting helps with things such as legislation in Kansas and how we work with clients throughout the state,” Stephanie Smith, judicial administrator said.

Summit County Consolidated CAD Consortium, Ohio

The Summit Emergency Communications Center has a team of more than 100 dispatchers within three centers to provide services for 16 police departments and 14 fire departments responding to 31 cities, towns, and villages. They were using a variety of dispatch systems which resulted in communications breakdowns. It impacted joint operations, resulting in slower response times and incomplete or inaccurate data sharing.

They deployed Tyler's public safety solutions including Enterprise Public Safety, Enforcement Mobile, and Enterprise Corrections. The implementation integrated their diverse public safety agencies onto a single platform. Response times to emergency calls have decreased by eliminating interagency communication gaps. Officers in the field have access to real-time data on their mobile devices, providing critical information from neighboring agencies and improved situational awareness. Compliance with state mandates has improved and interagency data sharing and communication is seamless.

Mike Banks, CAD system administrator said, “These bigger agencies have been able to move off their dying platforms and transition into integrated technology that works the same for everyone involved in the consortium.”

Tarrant County Clerk, Texas

The county clerk office was experiencing exponential growth in court filings year after year, compounded by increased backlogs caused by the pandemic. This congestion of legal processing threatened a core pillar of justice delivery — timeliness and accuracy. Agency leadership responded by putting a focus on strategic digital innovation.

The team selected Tyler’s Enterprise Justice solution, including Document Automation, powered by CSI. After thorough planning, they applied Document Automation's AI bots to progressively more complex parts of their workflow, minimizing risk and maximizing impact along the way. In time, they were using AI bots to process 27 document types for county courts, 22 for probate, and 15 for land records.

The improvements were tangible. The 48-hour intake period was cut to minutes, reducing the backlog of e-filings and enabling quicker case resolutions and improved service delivery to the public. The accuracy of data processing and entry were improved, reducing human error and ensuring more reliable case handling. With each improvement in operational efficiency, staff were able to put increased focus on more complex, higher-value tasks.
